These flowers are so named because they give off cottony seed heads which catch the wind and resemble smoke, especially when the prairie is filled with them. I found them in the Northern Arizona high country, near the Grand Canyon and beyond. This particular flower was backlit by a setting sun, making it seem to glow from within. I love how the wind swept it, giving it a unique shape.
Marty Hulsebos and his Artwork
The artist has a fascination with how different varieties of light can transform a landscape, this is at the heart of his art. Also, no two moments are the same. Each moment is fleeting, never to be experienced the same way again. Being awake to opportunities, and being ready to take advantage of them, is his core activity as a landscape photographer. photographs
